I was the featured artist on the recent Simply Quilts Episode #1016, Inking Art Quilts. In it, I demonstrated some of the techniques I use for drawing faces and then inking them onto fabric. The episode will air on Thursday, November 10th at 8:30am.
"American Style" Article
See the "Portfolio" article on my work in American Style Magazine, February 2005 issue, now available on newstands. Excerpt from article: "Quilt artist Lura Schwarz Smith likes to look at her work as "painting with fabric." Drawing from her background in painting, Smith stitches masterpieces that seem more at home handing on the wall than covering a bed..."
An interview I did at the 1999 Houston International Quilt Festival has been posted on the Alliance for American Quilts website. The interview was part of an oral history project at Texas, and I had both "Letting Go" and "Seams a Lot Like Degas" showing at Houston that year. In the interview, I talk about how I first got started quilting and the process I went through on the "Degas" quilt, amoung other things.
