Laurel Anderson worked from a photo (shown at right) of her mother holding her child. She used various brown tones on white muslin to give the faces their warm, rich tone. For the lap quilt, she used the distorted block technique taught in Traditionals Transformed.

Faces in Fabric: a workshop for those who are interested in a more specific look at rendering the human face convincingly in fabric, no matter what your drawing skills may be.
Traditionals Transformed: Give an old favorite a new twist - take a traditional block and tweak it. Class time will be mostly spent on learning to distort blocks and learning the patternless freeform piecing technique.
